What next?
Some years ago (in July 2000) Carolyn and Colin McCrae were eating at a restaurant in Plymouth when they started mapping out an idea for a book.
Unlike anything else she had in mind (and she had mapped out a number of plots for short stories and novels) this one was based on fact, well known, well documented, historical fact.
The more they talked about the idea the more work was required; research, travel to soak up the atmosphere of particular places, reading.
The plot has been revisited several times in the past 13 years, four books have been written and published since that dinner and now it is time to bring it to the top of the queue.
It has had several working titles and there are a number of working files on Carolyn's computer with completely different titles, the current one is Unwonted Legacy.
The plot depends on one important occurrence in history not being quite as it
has been officially recorded.
Alternative or Alternate History is a popular genre with many authors
interpreting a world that would exist if things had changed.
"What if William hadn't won the Battle of Hastings..."
What if Edward VIII had never met Wallace Simpson..." "What if the
weather had been different on D-Day..."
I am saying what if......
Well you'll have to wait a couple more years to find out......
