The Author
Carolyn McCrae currently lives in the wilds of rural Shropshire, two miles from Offa's Dyke and Wales, with her husband, Colin, and their ageing black cat, The Lodger.
They moved to Shropshire in 2007 but in that time have lived in
Boraston (near Tenbury Wells), Steventon (near Ludlow ) and now
Maesbrook (near Llanymynech).
Before that they lived in Hamill near
Sandwich (Kent), Polperro (Cornwall),
Wrotham, Seal and Lullingstone
(all Kent) .......
They move a lot.
Since 1994 Colin and Carolyn have worked together in the business
Carolyn founded in 1983 (PS Direct).
At one time employing a dozen
people and occupying a
four storey office building and a light
industrial unit
outside Sevenoaks (Kent)
for the past few years they have been winding down the
business and now have more time for the garden,
the pub, reading and writing
(though not necessarily in that order).
Through the late 1970s and early 1980's
Carolyn worked in various
capacities
in the pioneer days of the commercial use
of word-processors
and desk top computers.
This was after she gave up teaching geography
and economics, which she did for five years in two very different
schools in South London.
A northerner born and bred, she had moved to Kent
with her first
husband who she had met in 1970
at University in Liverpool.
Until the age of 21 she had lived (most of the time)
on the Wirral.
Even then she moved around a lot
living in
Noctorum, Meols, various houses/flats in Hoylake, West Kirby and Caldy
(as well as Reigate in Surrey and Bombay, India ....
it's a long story!)
